The Content is Back

Author: Joanne

The shop pages anyway. It is a bit of a mess, but in the end I decided it was better to have it up and imperfect than to not have it all. So I imported some of the pages from an old back up. I’ll have to go through and fix them one by one, that might be easier than starting from scratch.

I also added a Press File.

I also added a Logo Portfolio. I haven’t had a lot of practice at logos but a found a few I’ve made I think are quite nice.

Little by little the site is starting come together, as I sort through everything from the old site and all my new ideas. It will never be done, but it will be less untidy.

I adapted the design from a project I did for my Typography class. It is a little quirky with off kilter shapes, layers of rich colors and textures, in some ways it shouldn’t work but it does. I think it really reflects both my personality and my artistic style. There are still a few technical bus to workout, I’ve loving the look!

I finally started getting my online portfolio up, Print Project Portfolio is in place. I planned to go with a slide show or a grid with pop-ups, but I had trouble finding one I could use in without losing my mind. In the end I decided that plain is better than nothing and my sanity is worth more than web 2.0. Overall I’m very happy with way it came out, now I have to get the rest of the pages done and a cover page made.

Sometimes its warm sometimes its cold, my sinuses are imploding -yes it is painful- the birds are singing and the murderous moggies are murderous, well more murderous than usual. It was warm and sunny early in the week, now when I’m home it is chilly and breezy. Such is my luck. Car has been in the garage 2 times in the last week; general planned maintenance, a dead battery and a flat tire. The garage actually took care of battery for free since it was a simple cleaning and it had just been in there.  The tire something flew at me on the highway. Just bad luck and stress I didn’t need.

I have to say though, I can’t believe Saturn is going away, it’s like Timex car  it takes a licking and keeps on going. It is a ’95 and has lived through me and my sister, both of us being a little hard on cars. I’m a little worried about the transmission, but other than that that it runs pretty good. Cross my fingers that it keeps going for another year or two or five.

There is less than 2 months until my son graduates. I have less than 3 weeks of school this semester. My divorce papers are filled out and filed (the lawyer has then hopefully he filed them). Hopefully we’ll packed and ready to move by mid June. The end is near! That is a good thing. I’ve had too many things going all at once for so long I want everything to be settled and done!

I added a little article under the Graphic Design menu called “What is a Graphic Designer?” Just to help people understand part of why this page is here and how I can help them a little bit. I know I need add a lot more but I’m a bit swamped right now. It does look as if I will have free time this summer.

I spent my morning updating the “Ms. Crazy Cat Lady” page so it now links to all the retail outlets where it is available!

New Template!

Author: Joanne

This one has options and boxes and all kinds of stuff I can move around and mess up! Should keep me from getting bored for a few months at least, maybe. I was just tired of looking at the other one. It does have nice built in menus so I don’t have to mess with that. Now maybe I can get some other work done.

My “To Do” list doesn’t seem to get any shorter though.

I finally couldn’t take the background that came with the theme any longer so I managed to get that updated last night. It will most likely change again (knowing me several times) but at least it no longer has that horrid weird greenish cast to it.

I’ve been plugging away at getting my category and sub-category pages set up. I believe I have the “Pretty Scribbles” frame work in place.

I’ve been updating so older artwork as I go, because well some of my early work just isn’t so great. We learn we grow our artwork improves.

I can’t believe my school starts up in a mere two weeks. How time flies. I’ve been battling a bought of depression all summer. Honestly, I don’t know whether going back to school will help or hurt. Really nothing to do but keep going, the root of the problem isn’t in my power to change, so I’ll have to find a way to adapt.

So today, I will organize and prioritize my “To Do” list for around here. Then I’ll try to get to work on what I can do from work. I will try to stay off Facebook it’s distractions.

I got a few things set up around here today!

If you scroll the bottom of the page, in my footer you will see the standard notations about what is running this fair site powered by Worpress and links to the template author. Also links to our “privacy policy” and “terms of use.” Just like a real website and everything.

I’m not sure what difference it makes really, but it does feel more serious with them in place. I’d have to have some actual traffic for their to be an issue with either, just trying to think ahead.

Finally…

Author: Joanne

It’s been a bit of a struggle, and I’ve wanted toss the whole thing on the floor and jump and down on it a few times, but I finally have a template set up with all the plug-ins I want and everything displaying correctly in IE and FF (more or less). Needs some tweaking but I can do that easy enough with the CSS.

Yesterday I was ready to give up and start again. Glad I didn’t.

I am happy! Also Relieved! And ready to get on with adding some awesome content to my site and to some fantastic artwork to my product selection!

I’ve worked hard and stressed and fussed with this darned site all week, I’m going to play for a bit now!

A Portfolio is Up

Author: Joanne

Yes, it a link to my Picassa album. Not he most elegant solution, but it works and it better than nothing. And nothing is what I kept coming up with trying other programs.

I tried the programs my hosting offers on auto install, and I even got brave and tried to install a program to my hosting manually.

I will keep working on it, but with this I can focus on other things like making more art work and work an elegant solution when I have free time or something workable hits me over the head.

Welcome to The New Site! All shiny new with a complete set of new website bugs. ;)

This is a WordPress installation and I am still getting used it. I chose to go with content management system because eventually I will be able to spend less time updating (when I update), updating more often (becuase it will be easier), and include more features (because someone else does the programming).

I hope anyway. Right this second I wish to bang my head on may desk. I think giving flea baths to cats is more fun than learning new open source software.
