Sometimes you have to roll the hard six! (with a fighter ship)
This one of my favorites. It’s advice I should probably take to heart, I’m a bit timid in some ways.
I updated it a little and added it to some of my other retail shops.

So… I’ve been playing Kitchen Witch all week, making herbed butter rolls for Thanksgiving at my brother’s house. It’s been a trick keeping the giant house mouse –AKA as my son- out of them. OK. I admit it I am not any better! He came in after school on Tuesday and the first thing he said was “The house smells good! I forgot my trombone.”
I admit to cheating a bit and using the bread machine’s dough cycle for the mixing and first rise. Honestly the dough doesn’t come out any better if I hand mix it, sometimes maybe a little worse if I’m impatient.
My rolls seem to be a big hit with everyone at family dinners. The first time I brought them my SIL Beth said she thought I bought them.
They are kind of fun to make. Any bread recipe and any herb combination will do. Make the dough and after the first rise divide and roll into balls. Dip the dough balls in melted butter –I suppose any oil would work- with herbs in it put in a pan let rise another hour and bake at 350 till golden about 25 minutes.
Maybe I shouldn’t be telling my secrets. People seem really impressed by that little trick. I suppose I just need to come up with a new trick.
I spent my morning updating the “Ms. Crazy Cat Lady” page so it now links to all the retail outlets where it is available!
Still looking for work, the work-study position I have has ended up being more a drawback than a help. I wouldn’t have applied if the job description had been better. The last thing I ever wanted was another job fixing computers or to drive 30 minutes to a minimum wage job. But I couldn’t say no because I’d lose unemployment.
I really tried to make it clear in the interview I am not a computer expert, it just didn’t seem to sink in. It’s not awful like the call center where there was constant negative commentary. The problems with the work study job are all technical not personal; wrong type of work, much too far away and too few hours. Even when I’m there I have no idea what I should be doing.
It is all frustrating and has me feeling a little defeated. But, there is nothing I can do but try and find something closer and/or more in line with my goals. I did go and talk to people at some of the local quick print and sign shops. No one is hiring. Office Depot is hiring but not for the copy center, but I’d take cashier or stocker.
School is going ok, but I feel a little lost there too. The instructor for Photoshop doesn’t collect projects until the end of the semester, which I find a little disconcerting, I have no idea how she grades or what criteria she will use on the projects.
The instructor for 2D design doesn’t think I’m inventive enough. I have to get some pictures up of my projects from 2D Design. Not inventive enough or not I worked hard on them and they came out pretty good.
This one has options and boxes and all kinds of stuff I can move around and mess up! Should keep me from getting bored for a few months at least, maybe. I was just tired of looking at the other one. It does have nice built in menus so I don’t have to mess with that. Now maybe I can get some other work done.
